Air Conditioning That Scales With the Building
When a building has more zones than a ducted system can manage well, VRF/VRV is usually the answer. One outdoor unit runs multiple indoor units, each zone controlled independently, so the boardroom, the shopfront, and the back office all get the temperature they actually want.
Lilac HVAC designs, supplies, installs, repairs, and maintains VRF/VRV systems for offices, retail, strata buildings, light industrial sites, and larger homes across the Central Coast. Systems are installed to Hitachi and Temperzone spec, quoted at a fixed price, and backed by a satisfaction guarantee.
Big-building comfort from a local business whose owner you can name.
VRF/VRV Services We Handle
VRF/VRV systems sized for your building's zones, tenancies, and load, then installed to manufacturer spec so the warranty holds.
Faults in refrigerant piping, indoor units, controllers, and zoning tracked to the cause and fixed properly, not patched.
Coil cleans, filter changes, refrigerant checks, and controls testing on a three-to-six-month cycle, with a written report for strata and commercial records.
Incorrectly linked, undersized, or underperforming VRF/VRV installs diagnosed and put right, regardless of who installed them.
Signs Your Building Is Ready for VRF/VRV
Different rooms or tenancies need different temperatures at the same time
An office, surgery, shop, or strata building where one thermostat can't please everyone
Limited ceiling or roof space that rules out large ducted runs
Multiple tenancies where usage needs to be managed or billed separately
A staged fit-out where indoor units will be added over time
A larger home where ducted zoning has hit its limits
- A larger home where ducted zoning has hit its limits

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a VRF/VRV air conditioning system?
VRF (variable refrigerant flow) is a system where one outdoor unit runs multiple indoor units, varying refrigerant flow to each zone as demand changes. VRV is Daikin’s trade name for the same technology. It suits offices, retail, strata buildings, and larger homes that need independent control across many rooms or tenancies.
What's the difference between VRF and ducted air conditioning?
Ducted pushes conditioned air through ductwork from one central unit, with zoning done by dampers. VRF pipes refrigerant to individual indoor units, so each zone is conditioned independently and only the zones in use draw energy. VRF generally suits larger or multi-tenancy buildings; ducted usually suits single homes.
Is VRF/VRV suitable for a house?
It can be. Larger homes with many rooms, long pipe runs, or limited roof space for ducting are the usual candidates. We’ll assess your home and tell you straight whether VRF, ducted, or splits make the most sense for the space and the budget.
What VRF brands do you install?
Lilac HVAC is an authorised Hitachi and Temperzone installer, so systems are installed to manufacturer spec and your warranty is protected. We also repair and maintain VRF/VRV systems from other brands.
Can you repair or maintain a VRF system another contractor installed?
Yes. We diagnose and correct incorrectly linked, undersized, and underperforming VRF/VRV systems regardless of who installed them, and take on scheduled maintenance for existing systems.
How much does a VRF/VRV system cost?
It depends on the number of zones, the indoor unit types, and the building layout, so we quote each job individually after a site assessment. You get a fixed price before any work starts, and estimates are free on larger and more complex commercial sites.
How often should a VRF/VRV system be serviced?
Every three to six months for most commercial and strata sites, depending on how hard the system runs. Regular maintenance keeps every zone performing, protects the compressors, and gives strata and property managers a written record.
What areas do you cover?
Lilac HVAC covers the Central Coast, including Gosford, Erina, Tuggerah, Wyong, and Woy Woy.
